Velo Retro Family Ride - Family Cycle Route Ulverston - Choose Ulverston

Route Overview

This route is great if you are looking for a family cycle around Ulverston. Starting from the Coronation Hall in the centre of Ulverston, you ride down New Market Street then take a right down Market Street. Joining the A950 at the roundabout for a few seconds before taking the first left off down Brewery St. A sharp right turn onto Hart St and follow the road down to Ford Park. Once through Ford Park and down past Hoad Monument you will join the A590 for a few seconds before turning off left before Booths Supermarket. This route then takes you along a narrow path towards the canal. Turning left on the path and following the canal all the way down to the Bay Horse (great stop for a cold drink and to look at the bay views). The route then takes you back up towards Ulverston, passing Glaxo Smith Kline, following the road past Outcast and along West Lane. The next leg of the journey takes you towards the Ulverston Priory along Brick Kiln Rd. Once you ride through the Priory (another great place to stop and rest) you take a path through Beech wood and on towards Bardsea. Once north of Bardsea there is a long straight ride past Ulverston Golf Club on the left and Birkrigg Common on the right towards Scales. Taking a right in Scales following signs to Gleaston, then a loop round back along Ulverston Rd. Follow this road for a few miles and take a sharp right on Red Lane passing the Ulverston Golf course on the right hand side this time. This road then joins a larger road (Priory Rd) back towards Ulverston passing the entrance to the Priory to the right. Ride towards Ulverston and up through town, turning off left on Park Road. This road then takes you directly back towards the Coronation Hall and a well deserved rest!
