Venture down the hidden side streets of Ulverston, Bolton Place to be exact, and you’re welcomed with a confetti of colour overhead, social bench seating, plus a cactus or two, transforming this quiet ginnel into the Texas taco dream of Whitney and Alex.
A true hidden gem of Ulverston, The Ranch boasts a flavoursome menu of tacos, burritos and rice bowls that have literally been pulled from the home memories of Texan Whitney, who fell in love with Ulverston only a year ago and decided with her husband Alex, to bring The Ranch to their new home!
Whitney, who is from a strong family of female entrepreneurs, starting from her Grandma’s flower shop (her picture is pride of place watching over The Ranch from the shelf behind the counter), also has a successful family history of BBQ restaurants back in the USA, and wanted to share with her new community the food she missed the most from home. You can really feel the passion and sense of nostalgia from the moment you walk in the door, and as much as The Ranch is a take-out restaurant, the offer of casual bench seating inside and out, alongside the effort taken to transform this small premises into an eye-catching destination, really provides a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere to this American hotspot.
Not only have The Ranch already teamed up with local suppliers such as Brockies and Ulverston Meat Company, supporting their dedication to Ulverston’s economy and the importance of local, but the couple are also 100% invested in their customers, ensuring they are listening and acting upon feedback. This has been massively reflected in their recently updated menu, an action inspired from the amazing constructive comments received from customers since opening in May 2022.
So if y’all wanna top up on rice, beans, pulled pork, shredded beef, cumin roasted sweet potato and what can only be described as the most amazing ‘House Sauce’, y’all better head down The Ranch and get Whitney, Alex and their team to hook you up with a taco brimming with those true Texas flavours.
