Ulverston singing group Singing Together Apart have been meeting online during the Covid-19 pandemic to sing safely together from the comfort of their own homes.
Read a message from Kirsten from Singing Together Apart about the meetings plus info about how to join.
“We’ve been meeting online to sing and keep our lal singing community together since lockdown. Singing is such a great thing for the mind and body – and whilst it is deemed a dangerous activity, up there with ice climbing, in current times – we can sing safely and securely in comfort of our own homes so we can stay connected till we can meet again in person.
We meet every Thursday at 10.30am online and sing all sorts of everything as long as it’s good, fun and easy to learn.
If you aren’t already on the Singing Together Apart mailing list (this is different to the SONG BIRDS list) and want to be part of the weekly sessions during August please email me so I can add you. We sing every Thursday morning at 10.30am. £8 per session.
This means you will get the weekly invite details and lyrics – if any new ones are needed.
We will be doing lots of new songs so it’s a good time to join us or re-join us.
(Come back – we miss you! Online singing and meeting really is good once you get used to it – I promise – and I was a very reluctant believer at first.)
You can have your camera off as long as I know who you are, if this makes it more comfortable for you initially.
You can also stay around for the chat or simply to listen at the end when we catch up with news and stuff . . . . or just leave if you don’t want to partake. All is fine.
In the holidays children and grandchildren are welcome to join us but the session will be geared to adults as per norm. I usually charge £5 per child, but all/any donations are appreciated if this is within your means.
Please email me by Tuesday if you intend to come along to STA. feelgoodsingers@outlook.com
Be good to see you. 🙂
Kirsten”
