Ulverston Lantern Festival 2019 Announcements

Ulverston Lantern Festival 2019 - Choose Ulverston

The theme for Ulverston Lantern Festival 2019 has been announced: Fantastical Beasts.

The theme was discussed at the Festival’s annual general meeting, which took place on 8 April at the Town Council offices in Ulverston.

Lantern Festival chairman, Chris Nelson, said the aim of the meeting was ‘to attract new helpers for the Festival, report on finances and organisational details and elect officers for the organising committee.

The date for this year’s festival was also announced as Saturday 14 September.

Chris said in a statement:

Ulverston Lantern Festival this year takes place on Saturday September 14th. It is the biggest festival of its kind in Europe attracting several thousand people to the town, and engaging the community and local schools through the creation of hundreds of lanterns that form a ‘River of Light’ through Ulverston.’

Appealing for helpers for this year’s event, he said, ‘The Festival depends on volunteers to organise the event, run the lantern-making workshops and ensure that the procession takes place in a safe and secure way to be enjoyed by everyone who attends and takes part.

Chis has asked potential festival volunteers to contact him on 07761 930627.
