Ulverston: Festivals Town Book Published

Local author Graham Whalan has published a new book Ulverston: Festivals Town.

In the book, Mr Whalan describes numerous events that Ulverston has hosted through the years - including various contemporary festivals that have become well-known features of the town's modern day life.

As reported to the Westmorland Gazette, Mr Whalan said “This new book is really a celebration of the town of Ulverston and its people, as well as its history and values as a community.

The author has written a number of books about Ulverston in recent years, including 100 Years of the Coronation Hall, detailing the history of the Coronation Hall, and The Sound of Musicals: Amateur Musical Theatre in the South Lakes Peninsulas, about the area's various amateur dramatic societies.

The new book, which has gained a lot of interest, was officially launched in August at an event at Ulverston Library.

The book can also be purchased at the Coronation Hall box office in Ulverston. A percentage of the profits from box office book sales will be donated to the hall.
