Summer sunshine brought thousands of people out onto the streets to enjoy the 2017 Ulverston Carnival. Up to 8,000 people packed the pavements to see the huge parade and then moved on up to Ford Park for the culmination of the festivities. In fact the town was so busy that by lunchtime most of the cash machines were empty due to spectators grabbing cash for their parade donations and spending in the stores, pubs and cafes. The money raised this year will be distributed to five local causes: Ulverston Mind, Ulverston Mencap, Ulverston Inshore Rescue, Furness Carers and Animal Refuge Furness.
