The Environment Agency (EA) are currently working in earnest to develop a business case to seek funding to significantly improve the level of protection to the south Ulverston area. This is substantially more complex than the Town Beck scheme due to the multiple, interconnected flooding mechanisms including Dragley Beck, the canal, tidal, and surface water flooding.

An integrated computer model will be completed by March 2018, which will allow the EA and partners to determine whether a scheme is viable. The EA will be carrying out drop in sessions for residents and businesses to discuss the model findings. It is vitally important that residents and businesses in south Ulverston are aware of their flood risk, and help the Environment Agency and partners to get a full understanding of the flooding.
In the meantime, there will be some minor works taking place in south Ulverston to ensure that the current standard of protection is not compromised by the Town Beck scheme.
