The heart of Ulverston was rekindled as the beloved Priory Place Fish and Chip Shop made a triumphant return. This iconic establishment has been serving its signature fish and chips, delighting the community with a taste of tradition infused with a dash of innovation.
Led by Cem Oktem and his brother, the shop’s revival was met with excitement. With over 15 years of experience in the industry, including successful management of Packet Bridge Fish and Chips in Bolton Le Sands and Westgate Fish & Chips in Morecambe, they brought a wealth of expertise to the table. Notably, Cem’s dedication earned him a role as a trainer at the National Federation of Fish Friers (NFFF) training school in 2017. He was part of the training and assessment team when Priory Plaice first opened, helping them secure the NFFF Quality Award.
Situated on Priory Road, the shop, which had its last day of service on December 17, had previously gained recognition as one of the top 50 fish and chip takeaways in the UK.
Despite facing significant challenges over the past year, including rising operational costs, the shop’s commitment to its patrons never wavered. Under the guidance of Cem and his brother, the establishment made a triumphant return, pleasing both loyal customers and newcomers with their delectable offerings.
