Ford Park Awarded £610,000 from GSK Legacy Fund to Build New Accessible Community Building

Ford Park is delighted to announce it has been awarded £610,000 from the GSK £2 million Legacy funding, following a decision by the GSK Taskforce to support the charity’s plans to create a new community building.

After months of work developing the proposal, Ford Park has secured funding that will enable the charity to build a new, more accessible community space to support the park’s long-term future. The building will allow Ford Park to host bigger events and fundraisers, expand educational visits and create more opportunities for the local community to use and enjoy the park.

Designed with sustainability in mind, the new building will be a planet-friendly construction, including solar panels intended to cover the charity’s energy needs.

Representatives from GSK and MP Michelle Scrogham visited Ford Park today to present the charity with a cheque for £610,000.

Ford Park would like to thank GSK for providing the £2 million legacy fund and the GSK Taskforce for the significant work involved in assessing and selecting projects from a wide range of submissions. The charity believes this £610,000.00 investment will help secure the future of Ford Park for generations to come, ensuring it remains a valued community green space for all who use and enjoy it.

Neil Fleming, Chair of Board of Trustees said “This building will be a wonderful asset to Ulverston, extending the range of indoor and outdoor community activities that we can host at Ford Park, and helping to safeguard the park's future. The park staff and trustees are delighted that this project was selected by the GSK task force, and are immensely grateful to GSK for the funding that we have now received.”

Ford Park also congratulates The Spot and its volunteers and representatives, who have also received funding to renovate their building and create much-needed community space for Ulverston residents and groups.

Supporters who would like to stay updated on the project’s progress can subscribe to the Ford Park newsletter to receive updates, event information and ways to get involved.
