Since the inception of the Ulverston International Music Festival in 2004 by acclaimed classical pianist Anthony Hewitt, enthusiastic audiences have been treated to top stars and ensembles of our generation on their doorstep, including Nicola Benedetti, Tasmin Little, Steven Isserlis, Natalie Clein, Emma Johnson and Martin Roscoe, plus jazz artists Gwilym Simcock, Dave Newton and Claire Martin, to name a few.
Our main event is the June festival which is supported by a winter series, and together with an education programme of in-school workshops, master classes, a family concert and our Ulverston Festival Chorus for local singers, we provide a packed musical calendar giving people of all ages in the community the opportunity to experience the very best of classical music either as a listener or participant, in order to help develop their skills and confidence through interaction with professional musicians.
