Gillam’s Tearoom
The Gillam family have been providing fine food and excellent service in Ulverston since 1892, when John James Gillam opened his cash & wholesale grocers on Market Street, Ulverston. Since then generations of the Gillam family have worked in the business until it closed in 1994.
In 2006 Doug Gillam (J J Gillamโs great great grandson) and his wife, Shirley, renovated a building directly opposite the old shop and opened Gillamโs tearooms. It brings the family name back to Ulverston and offers the same quality and service that the Gillam family is famous for.
In Autumn 2010 Gillamโs specialist grocers opened. It adjoins the tearoom and offers specialist and local produce and organic fruit and vegetables.

Gillamโs offer quality, traditional tearoom fayre and a tempting selection of cakes all made using only the finest organic ingredients, many locally and regionally sourced.
Our specials board changes on a daily basis and is influenced by local Cumbrian food as well as classic global dishes.
We cater for all types of dietary needs with an extensive menu for vegans and those on gluten-free diets.
Gillamโs is fully licensed selling the finest organic wines and beers.
