The Festival Town on the Edge of the Lake District
Swarthmoor Hall was built in the second half of the sixteenth century and was part of the turbulent history surrounding the foundation of Quakerism, from 1650 onwards. It is furnished in regional seventeenth century style. Audio tour for free on Heritage Open Days. Beautiful gardens also free, shop and cafe.
