Pop along the cobbled ginnel of Upper Brook Street, amongst the Ulverston classics of The Chippy Bank and Ralph Spours, and you’ll find a shop of Cumbrian class like no other!
Family run gift shop, The Cumbria Way, is the dream of Paula and Colin, a dynamic duo with an inspiring dream, who (with help from the family), are dedicated to showcasing the many amazing talents and produce of Cumbria. The shop stocks everything from art and crafts, to food and drink, and everything in between…as long as it’s Cumbrian!
Ulverston is known as a destination town for tourists, and is a hot spot for those relocating from all over the country (and the world), so it’s great to find a shop and family so proud of the town and county they adopted as their home, highlighting all the things they find wonderful and amazing – as do we! And knowing such enthusiasm for our neck of the woods is strong at The Cumbria Way, we will no doubt see the list of local producers increase and many Cumbrian gems (some we know and some we don’t) become available and displayed in this la’al shop.
The Cumbria Way, cleverly named after the 73 mile walk from Ulverston to Carlisle, (that starts but a few hundred metres away), opened on Saturday 18 June, and shop owners threw themselves straight into Ulverston traditions, with a window painting as part of the Another Fine Fest celebrations.
With such dedication to our town and county from day one, I think we can all agree that The Cumbria Way is reet up our street, celebrating, as owner Paula puts it, ‘basically all things Cumbria.’
We wish Paula, Colin and The Cumbria Way team the best of luck as they start their new adventure, and if you’d like to learn more about the products they stock, or if you have a Cumbrian based product you would like them to stock, pop in for a visit – The Cumbria Way, Upper Brook Street, Ulverston LA12 7BH, open Monday to Saturday 10am to 5.30pm and Sunday 10am to 4pm. Or visit them on Facebook.
